Snowmobile on Vatnajokull Glacier

The snowmobile tours are available from March to October.

Prior to setting out, you will be equipped with overalls and helmets at base camp, ensuring your comfort and safety throughout the excursion. Even if you've never operated a snowmobile before, there's no need to fret—the guides provide a brief demonstration on handling the vehicles and review basic safety protocols before you embark on this thrilling adventure. All drivers must be 17 years of age or older and have a full, valid driver's license. According to Icelandic law, a learner's permit, tractor, or motorcycle license is not sufficient. Single riders and groups with odd numbers must book a single-ride snowmobile.

Weight Limit

Participants combined weight on one snowmobile MUST be 180kg / 390lbs or less. If your combined weight exceeds 180kg / 390lbs you need to book single snowmobiles.

This is VERY important for your safety while riding snowmobiles.

The standard version of our snowmobile tour has two persons riding together on a snowmobile. If you would prefer to ride alone you can choose the solo rider option.

However, if you are travelling solo or in a group of odd numbers 1, 3, 5, etc., you need to book at least one solo rider, as we do not pair you with another solo traveller.

When choosing the solo rider option you would always have to combine that with an adult ticket. As an example, if there’s a booking for 4 adults you would have to book 4 adult tickets + 4 solo rider.

• We provide you with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride, warm overalls, helmets and gloves, just bring yourself and good outdoors boots.

• A valid drivers license is required to operate a snowmobile.
• Standard price includes a snowmobile ride sharing a two-person snowmobile. If you are solo traveller / rider you must upgrade before the tour to a solo snowmobile.
• Good outdoor clothing and hiking boots are required.
• Duration is 3 hours.
• Minimum age is 6 years old.
• It´s the customer’s responsibility to inform our guides if they have any kind of health issue.
• Reasonable level of fitness is required for all our tours.
• If the driver or passenger causes damage to a snowmobile the driver is responsible for paying for the repair of the snowmobile.
