Jökulsárlón

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders, located in the southeast of the country, just off the Ring Road. It sits at the edge of Vatnajökull National Park, beneath Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. The lagoon is formed by the melting of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, one of Vatnajökull's outlet glaciers, which continuously feeds the lagoon with massive chunks of ice that calve off and drift into the water. These icebergs eventually float out to the Atlantic Ocean, with many washing ashore on the nearby Diamond Beach, where they create a stunning contrast against the black sand.
